Recommended age period for wisdom teeth removal is 15-25, however there are instances where individuals older than 30 years also have their wisdom teeth removed to decrease the complications mentioned below from occurring.

Sometimes our adult teeth do not follow the normal eruption pattern and result in possible impaction in the jaw. These impacted teeth may damage adjacent teeth, cause cyst formation, or damage other vital structures. Impacted teeth can be exposed and brought back into normal orientation if treated early. Often times this procedure is completed while patients are undergoing orthodontic treatment. A small bracket with a chain is attached to the tooth after its exposure and anchored to the existing orthodontic framework. This will gradually move the tooth into its ideal position. This procedure helps align the teeth properly and avoids potential problems such as misalignment, pain, or infection from the impacted tooth.

A frenectomy is a minor surgical procedure that involves removing or reshaping the frenum, which is a small fold of excess tissue in the mouth. There are two common areas for frenectomies: under the tongue and inside the upper or lower lip. If the frenum is too tight, thick, or extends too close to the teeth, it can cause issues such as gaps between the front teeth, recession around teeth, difficulty speaking, or problems with proper dental alignment. Tori removal is a surgical procedure to eliminate excessive bony growths in the mouth, known as tori. These growths typically appear on the palate (roof of the mouth) or along the lower jaw, near the tongue. The growths are generally benign but can cause discomfort, interfere with speech, eating, or wearing dental appliances like dentures. This procedure will remove the excess bone and smoothen the area which will greatly improve oral comfort and function for patients who experience issues due to tori.

Usually when teeth are extracted the underlying jaw bone remodels and atrophies. In the upper jaw, one of the consequences of this, is the lack of minimum bone height (8-10mm) required under the sinuses to place a dental implant.
A sinus lift or “sinus augmentation” procedure is a specialized dental procedure designed to increase the height of bone in the upper jaw for dental implants. This procedure is often performed at the same time of dental implant placement for patient comfort. Once the sinus membrane is gently lifted, bone graft material is placed in the area to allow for a dental implant of adequate height to be placed.
This meticulous yet predictable surgery has success rates ranging from 86-100% based on current literature, however our clinician’s success rates have been higher than 95%.

After 4-6 months when the bone graft in the sinus and implant have consolidated and healed, patients would be referred back to their dentist to place a crown on the implant. The benefit is our patients can safely, and comfortably smile and chew food like they would with their own natural teeth.
