Digital radiography

Our modern digital radiography uses sensors to capture dental images. The advantages include superior image quality, reduced radiation exposure and a more comfortable experience for our patients.

Intra-oral scanner

Say good-bye to uncomfortable dental impressions. At True North Dental Surgery we have an intra-oral scanner that is used for capturing highly detailed, three-dimensional pictures of our patient’s teeth, gums, and oral cavity.

These scanners have revolutionized the way we gather information, diagnose dental conditions, and plan various dental treatments.
More importantly, it provides the opportunity and platform to show our patients everything we see.

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT)

To ensure we provide accurate, predictable, convenient, and efficient treatment to our patients, we have invested in a CBCT device. This advanced imaging technology can obtain detailed three-dimensional (3D) radiographic images of the teeth, jawbones, temporomandibular joints (TMJs), sinuses, nerve pathways, and surrounding tissues.

This technology is particularly valuable for treatment planning dental implants, sinus lift procedures, bone augmentation procedures and wisdom teeth removal.

Guided implant Placement

Guided implant placement is an advanced dental procedure that uses a CBCT along with an intra-oral scan of the mouth to manufacture a custom surgical guide.

This method is highly accurate, making the implant placement process more predictable and efficient. Guided implant placement is particularly useful for complex cases or when multiple implants are needed. It increases the safety and effectiveness of the procedure, reduces the risk of complications, and can also shorten the surgery time.

Sedation

Nitrous oxide & oral sedation are two common methods used to help patients feel more comfortable and relaxed during dental procedures. Your vital signs are monitored throughout the procedure to ensure your safety. They can make dental visits significantly less stressful for anxious patients or those undergoing longer or more complex treatments.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation, commonly known as “laughing gas,” is a colorless, sweet-smelling gas that you inhale through a mask placed over your nose. The gas starts working within minutes, reducing anxiety and helping you feel calm. You remain awake and can still communicate, but you feel no pain and discomfort.

Oral Sedation involves taking a prescribed sedative pill about an hour before your dental procedure as prescribed by our surgeons. The medication makes you drowsy, although you’ll still be awake and able to respond. Some patients may actually fall asleep but can be easily awakened.
The effects of oral sedation last longer than nitrous oxide, and you will need a responsible adult to drive you to the appointment and back home after your appointment.
